How do I avoid flashcard burnout?

    Short answer

Cap new cards at 10–20 per day, keep daily reviews under 30 minutes, use cram mode (not regular study) for last-minute exam prep, and take occasional "freeze" days to break the streak pressure. Burnout almost always comes from too many new cards.

The most common burnout cause is adding 50+ new cards a day during content review, which then snowballs into a 400-card daily review queue you can't sustain. The fix is upstream: cap new cards.

For exam weeks, use cram mode (which doesn't add to your SRS history) instead of marathon study sessions that pollute your scheduling.

Streak freezes (QuickCards Free includes 1/month, Pro Max includes 5) let you skip a day without losing the streak — a small psychological win that's helped users stick with daily reviews for years.
